Garmin is now offering a new update to many of its latest high-end smartwatches. Available globally as a free download, the new update addresses several outstanding issues and includes improvements specific to the Fenix 8 Pro and Tactix 8.

Garmin has pressed ahead with a new update for the Fenix 8 series and its peers like the Enduro 3 (curr. $899 on Amazon). Lately, the company has focused on its Beta Program with a string of v23.xx releases. By contrast, the last major stable update landed in May, with subsequent updates like System Software 22.41 being interim builds aimed at resolving a few bugs.

Currently, Garmin has not offered any indications about when it will issue a new stable build. However, the new Beta Version 23.24 is the eighth v23.xx build that Garmin has released this beta cycle. Based on past performance, the company should need only one or two beta releases before shipping a v23.xx stable update.

In the meantime, Beta Version 23.24 addresses another half dozen bugs that were present in earlier v23.xx updates. Primarily, Garmin’s new beta fixes issues that caused device resets across the Fenix 8 family.

Additionally, Beta Version 23.24 contains improvements for Garmin’s voice control functionality. Finally, the new beta includes dedicated fixes for the Fenix 8 Pro and Tactix 8. The full changelog between Beta Version 23.22 and Beta Version 23.24 is as follows:

  • Fixes an issue that could cause the device to reset after receiving a spectator message.
  • Fixes an issue that could cause the device to reset when saving an activity.
  • Fixes an issue where device fails to detect Wake Word.
  • Fixes an issue where device fails to prespond to commands after Wake Word is triggered.
  • Fixes an issue where timers still make a tone while in Stealth Mode. (Tactix 8)
  • Fixes some translation issues.
  • Updates some satellite orientations for L-band. (Pro smartwatches)
