Garmin releases new update to high-end smartwatches with device reset fix

Garmin has released a new stable update for its current high-end smartwatches. Rolling out across the Enduro 3, Fenix E, Fenix 8, Fenix 8 Pro and the Tactix 8 (curr. $1,299 on Amazon), the new update does not represent the culmination of recent v23.xx development.

Instead, System Software 22.41 represents a continuation of interim v22.xx updates, the last of which arrived at the start of July. To recap, System Software 22.39 was said to fix possible battery drain while also addressing separate issues during voice calls. Similarly, System Software 22.41 aims to resolve two outstanding bugs that were present in older v22.xx firmware.

On the one hand, the new update provides a fix for an issue that occasionally caused some smartwatches to reset during a golf activity. On the other hand, System Software 22.41 should address a problem that prevented treadmill calibration from working correctly.

Currently, Garmin estimates that it has offered its new stable update to around 50% of eligible smartwatches. One can always request System Software 22.41 manually by tapping 'Check for Updates' after navigating through the Main menu to Settings, System and Software Update.
