The Amazfit Balance 3 also benefits from the new software update
Zepp Health is rolling out a new software update for select Amazfit smartwatches across the Balance and Cheetah series. The release introduces new functionality for both training and daily use, including the option to use the devices as Bluetooth speakers.

Zepp Health has begun rolling out firmware version 6.2.104.6 for three of its smartwatches: the Cheetah 2 Ultra, the Amazfit Balance 3, and the Amazfit Balance Ultra. The update introduces several new features, including a new map orientation mode and automatic dive detection. Diving sessions are particularly straightforward for smartwatches with a pressure sensor to identify, as underwater pressure shifts rapidly within seconds while horizontal movement remains minimal.

Additionally, the smartwatches can now function as Bluetooth speakers. While the practical utility of this feature may be limited in everyday use—given that built-in speakers on models like the previously tested Amazfit Cheetah 2 Pro (on Amazon) offer reasonable clarity but limited power—it remains a nice extra to have.

Beyond hardware usage, the changelog outlines several software optimizations. Notably, the algorithm for calculating the lactate threshold has been improved, providing runners with a more accurate metric to structure their training. Finally, the update includes three user interface enhancements, including a refreshed visual layout when reaching a destination during map navigation.
