Amazfit smartwatch receives major software update with practical new features

Software version 6.1.0.206.1 is now rolling out to the Amazfit Balance 3. At 19.57 MB, the update introduces several practical enhancements. Recently launched on Amazon and other retailers, the Balance 3 sits firmly in the high-end segment. Compared to its predecessor, it features a larger display and an integrated flashlight.
Map download management has been improved. Downloads can now be paused, allowing users to prioritize other tasks. They can also be started even when the battery is low, provided the watch is charging—particularly useful when preparing routes after a day outdoors. The device now supports storage for up to 100 routes. While its 64 GB capacity could accommodate more, a higher limit would reduce usability due to on-device navigation constraints. Routes created directly on the watch can also be saved and launched later.
HybridCharge is now available as a workout data field, enabling real-time monitoring. This complements the watch’s ability to alert users when the value drops below a defined threshold during activity. For runners, especially on trails, a new metric has been introduced: equivalent pace for the last lap. This translates effort on hilly terrain into a comparable flat-ground pace, with its accuracy benefiting from improved elevation tracking to ensure more reliable ascent data and more precise pace calculations. The update also enables synchronization of heart rate variability (HRV) data with Apple Health, offering a useful indicator of recovery and physiological readiness.
