The Amazfit Active 3 Premium is receiving a new software update
A relatively affordable smartwatch with offline maps, the Amazfit Active 3 Premium is now receiving a feature-packed software update. Depending on how the wearable is used, owners stand to benefit from a noticeably improved experience.

The Amazfit Active 3 Premium is a smartwatch currently available on Amazon for $170. It offers a robust feature set for the price, standing out from Garmin's newer and more expensive Forerunner smartwatches by supporting navigation via maps stored directly on the device—rendering it completely independent of a smartphone. The smartwatch is now receiving a software update, though as usual, it remains unclear whether the rollout has already reached all users.

Firmware version 6.2.204.3 goes beyond routine bug fixes to introduce several new capabilities. Users training on rowing machines compatible with the FTMS protocol can now view real-time workout metrics, such as current power output and distance covered, directly on the display. Pool swimmers also benefit from an upgraded tracking algorithm, along with the ability to manually log rest intervals. Additionally, a new feature lets users permanently lock the touchscreen during a workout. Speaking from experience, this is a very practical addition, as sweat during summer runs can easily trigger accidental inputs. According to the changelog, the map feature has also been improved, alongside various unspecified bug fixes and system optimizations.
