Amazfit Helio Ring with two brand-new sensors, including ECG, revealed at USPTO

The Amazfit Helio Ring already features a heart rate and SpO2 sensor, a skin temperature sensor, and an EDA sensor that can measure stress based on the skin’s electrical activity. Gadgets & Wearables has now uncovered a new patent filed with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), published on July 30, 2026, that describes a smart ring with new sensors.
Compared to the Helio Ring already on the market, the patented ring features two additional electrodes in particular. These are rounded and cover a large portion of the ring’s inner surface. These electrodes are intended not only to replace the EDA sensor for measuring stress based on the skin’s electrical activity. The electrodes are also designed to function as a single-lead ECG. This makes it possible, as with many smartwatches, to detect certain heart rhythm abnormalities.
In addition, it is said to be possible to use these electrodes as a BIA sensor, which, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Watch9 ($379 on Amazon), allows body composition to be determined by analyzing body fat, muscle, and water content. The electrodes’ metallic surface is also designed to allow the ring to be charged via them.
Using the same electrodes for multiple purposes saves space, which is particularly limited in a smart ring. The patent also shows a charging case that could make it more convenient to charge the Helio Ring 2 on the go without having to bring the docking station along. As is usually the case, such patents do not necessarily mean that a product of this kind will actually be released, the only certainty is that Amazfit has been working behind the scenes on a smart ring of this type.
