Samsung confirms Galaxy Ring 2, rumors suggest three upgrades

The Samsung Galaxy Ring is already two years old and is now competing with much smaller, more elegant products like the Oura Ring 5 ($399 on Amazon). Samsung Senior Vice President Dr. Hon Pak has now officially confirmed to Forbes that a second-generation Galaxy Ring is in the works. While the Galaxy Ring 2 is set to receive hardware upgrades, particularly in terms of sensors and battery life, Dr. Hon Pak stated that the hardware itself would not be the decisive factor.
This is because most smart rings on the market have comparable sensors. The big difference lies in the software, which analyzes data on heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, skin temperature, and movement. The Samsung executive also hints that the second-generation Galaxy Ring could be compatible with the Apple iPhone for the first time, though Dr. Hon Pak did not want to confirm this specifically just yet. Details regarding the hardware and launch window for the Galaxy Ring 2 were also not confirmed in the interview.
Previous rumors have suggested that the Galaxy Ring 2 will receive at least three specific upgrades. First, the battery life is expected to be extended from one week to nine to ten days. Second, the ring is expected to be thinner and lighter to improve comfort. And third, the sensors are expected to be redesigned to measure skin temperature more accurately and to enable new features for monitoring cardiovascular health, though details on this are still pending.
