Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 to receive three major upgrades

The Samsung Galaxy Ring ($299 on Amazon) was announced in July 2024 as the first smart ring from Samsung and was intended to compete against the market leader Oura. According to the latest information from ETNews from sources within the supply chain, the next-generation Galaxy Ring is not expected until early 2027.
The Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 is expected to receive improvements in three areas in particular. Firstly, the battery life. The Galaxy Ring is advertised with a battery life of seven days, while the battery of the successor is expected to last nine to ten days. This gives the Galaxy Ring 2 some leeway to achieve a full week of battery life even with heavy use or after a few years of use. Samsung is to fundamentally revise the electronics to enable a thinner and lighter body and thus increase wearing comfort.
And thirdly, Samsung is said to improve the sensors. In addition to a heart rate and SpO2 sensor, the first-generation Galaxy Ring also offers skin temperature and motion sensors, and can therefore track calories burned and sleep, among other things. The Galaxy Ring 2 is said to be able to measure skin temperature more precisely and record sleep more accurately. The report mentions enhanced functions with regard to cardiovascular health, but does not provide any information on additional sensors. Samsung is said to be working on a blood glucose sensor, but this will not yet be ready for the Galaxy Ring 2.
