Rumor: Nikon plans affordable full-frame compact camera with OLED display

From the Fujifilm X100 VI ($2,349 on Amazon) with APS-C sensor to the Leica Q3 with a full-frame sensor - the market for compact cameras with large sensors offers a range of exciting options. With the RX1R III Sony even revived one of the smallest full-frame compact cameras last year, giving it a number of significant upgrades.
According to the latest information from Nikon Rumors, Nikon is now also set to develop a full-frame compact camera, but it could be significantly cheaper than its competitors. While the Leica Q3 costs $7,350 and the Sony RX1R III is currently offered for $5,099, Nikon's compact camera will be based on the Nikon ZR, which currently costs just $2,195.

Although the compact camera is likely to be somewhat more expensive due to the lens, Nikon is said to have completely removed all video features, which could potentially save money by eliminating microphones and ports and by using a cheaper processor. The camera is said to do without an electronic viewfinder, but will instead offer a high-quality, flip-out OLED display.
An electronic viewfinder can be retrofitted via the hot shoe if required. The camera is said to have two control dials and will be available in black, beige and "panda". The body is said to be only 2.5 centimetres thick, but this figure is probably without the lens. It is not yet known when this Nikon full-frame compact camera will be launched on the market.
