Sony A7r VI launches soon, said to offer 67 MP full-frame sensor at higher price

Sony has confirmed on a teaser website that the successor to the Sony A7r V ($3,298 on Amazon) will be officially unveiled on Wednesday, May 13, at 10:00 am EDT or 3:00 pm BST. In the YouTube teaser embedded below, however, Sony talks about 09:30 am EDT, so the launch event apparently begins half an hour before the announcement.
Customers from Germany can already reserve the new camera at Foto Erhardt for which, however, a deposit of €50 must be paid. It is not yet known how much the Sony A7r VI will cost, but rumors suggest that the price will rise from €4,499 to around €5,500. According to information from SonyAlphaRumors the camera will receive several significant upgrades. The Sony A7r series usually offers the highest resolution of all Sony A7 models. The Sony A7r VI is said to get a new sensor that offers a resolution of 67 megapixels, instead of the 61 MP of the previous model.
Sony is said to fundamentally revise both the body and the menus, and give the camera a new, potentially larger battery. Performance is said to be much closer to the Sony A1 II than the Sony A7r V, both in terms of speed and video features. According to rumors, the Sony A7r VI can take up to 30 photos per second, instead of just ten images per second as with the previous model. "Pre-capture" allows photos to be saved continuously in the buffer so that photos can be taken even before the shutter button is pressed.
