Step aside, DJI and Insta360: Budget "Feiyu Pocket 4" gimbal camera hands-on video shows innovative design

There’s a pretty good chance you’ve never heard of FeiyuTech unless you were shopping for an affordable DSLR gimbal on Amazon.
Well, the same company is now preparing to launch the "Pocket 4" - the successor to the "Pocket 3". That’s right - we are not talking about DJI’s Osmo Pocket 4 gimbal camera, but the Feiyu Pocket 3 and Feiyu Pocket 4, which are something like the "budget alternative to DJI" you didn’t know about.
Indeed, fresh hands-on video shows the Feiyu Pocket 4 compact gimbal camera, and it looks like the 2026 version should be getting some exciting upgrades over the Feiyu Pocket 3, which is available in Europe and the US for around €229/$259 with its remote handle kit.
For reference, the Feiyu Pocket 3 offers a 12MP 1/2.3” sensor, 4K/60fps video, 130° wide-angle lens, 3-axis stabilization, and modular design with a wireless remote handle. However, its tiny 0.42” OLED screen limits usability.
Feiyu Pocket 4 is the budget alternative to the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 you might be waiting for; to bring huge upgrades over Feiyu Pocket 3
The new Feiyu Pocket 4 looks significantly more refined. Visible upgrades include a larger touchscreen that supports quick horizontal/vertical switching, and an innovative magnetic slide mechanism that’s supposed to act as a "case" - you slide it up and the gimbal turns off automatically.
More importantly, the upcoming Feiyu Pocket 4 is said to feature a much larger 1/1.55” CMOS sensor, 4K/60fps video, 110° FOV, built-in 64GB storage, AI tracking, and up to 150 minutes of battery life.
Despite the innovative detachable camera, which can magnetically attach to metal surfaces, the Feiyu Pocket 3 never looked like the ultimate competitor to the Osmo Pocket 3. It's a budget gimbal camera made for those who don’t necessarily need the pro-grade features of the Osmo Pocket 3. For example, the 2024 model lacks a mic input, and the picture quality is about as good as you’d expect from a tiny 1/2.3 sensor.
However, the fact that FeiyuTech is releasing a new Pocket 4 shows that the company cares enough to follow up with an upgrade, and that’s already promising.
Unfortunately the modular design of the Pocket 3 seems to be gone, which could be a positive if it means the Feiyu Pocket 4 is more rugged. If you want modularity, you might want to wait for the Insta360 Luna Ultra and Luna Pro
All in all, if the Feiyu Pocket 4’s new sensor proves to be large enough to deliver usable low-light video and lets you plug in a wireless mic receiver, the Osmo Pocket 4 and Insta360 Luna series might have an interesting budget rival to worry about. Especially if the Feiyu Pocket 4 starts at around $300/€300.
As of now, the Feiyu Pocket 4 doesn’t have an official launch date. Stay tuned for updates!
