Single-cam Insta360 Luna Pro officially confirmed: Lower price, 10-bit iLOG, AI tracking, two colors

In a very interesting turn of events, Insta360 has now officially given us hands-on previews of its first dual-camera gimbal camera, the Insta360 Luna Ultra, while also officially announcing the Insta360 Luna Pro - confirmed to be a single-camera model.
Why is this bizarre? Well, because DJI just revealed the Osmo Pocket 4, which very much has a single camera, while confirming the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P (Pro) via a teaser video. In other words, the two competitors are taking the exact opposite launch approach - one leading with the flagship gimbal camera, and the other with the vanilla version.
That aside, we currently don’t know the exact specs of the Insta360 Luna Pro. However, if the Insta360 Luna Ultra specs are anything to go by, we can make an educated guess.
Insta360 Luna Pro expected specs:
- 1-inch sensor fixed at 20mm, f/1.8 aperture
- 10-bit iLOG video recording
- 14 stops of dynamic range
- AI-powered tracking
- Black and white color options
- Insta360 Mic Pro support
Cheaper, single-camera Insta360 Luna Pro confirmed to join Insta360 Luna Ultra in challenging DJI Osmo Pocket 4 and 4P (Pro)
The obvious question someone planning to buy an Insta360 Luna or DJI Osmo Pocket gimbal camera might be asking is whether it’s worth waiting.
Well, as far as Insta360 is concerned, we don't have an official release date for the Luna Ultra and the Luna Pro, which means it’s possible they are launching together to make choosing between the two easier.
The rumored launch month is June, although considering select creators already have their hands on the Insta360 Luna Ultra for reviews, we could see an official launch as soon as May, or even late April.
Insta360 Luna Ultra and Luna Pro pricing and availability - yet to be confirmed
Of course, the other important question would be that of pricing. Obviously, the more powerful, dual-camera models will be more expensive, but we still don’t know by how much. In fact, we don’t have any prices for the Insta360 Luna Ultra and Luna Pro at all.
That said, it’s not too hard to make an educated guess that Insta360 is going to more or less match DJI in terms of pricing to stay competitive in markets outside the US. The DJI Osmo Pocket 4 starts at €499 for the standard combo and €619 for the Creator Combo version, which includes the DJI Mic 3 and more accessories like the new magnetic fill light.
Perhaps Insta360 is going to have its own retail variations and price them accordingly. We know for a fact that the new Insta360 Mic Pro is going to be a major part of the Insta360 camera ecosystem.
Stay tuned for more official announcements, leaks, and rumors around the Insta360 Luna Ultra, Luna Pro, and the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P, which is also coming very soon.
