Leak: Oppo "Fuyao" gimbal camera to rival DJI Osmo Pocket 4, Insta360 Luna Ultra in 2026

In 2026, the dominance of DJI in the handheld gimbal market is facing its most significant challenge yet, and as it turns out, the Find X9 Ultra might not be the most exciting "camera" Oppo has in mind for 2026.
A new leak from China suggests that smartphone giant Oppo is about to diversify its hardware portfolio with a dedicated vlogging camera, internally codenamed "Fuyao." According to the leak, the device is being developed as a direct competitor to the recently launched DJI Osmo Pocket 4 and the upcoming Osmo Pocket 4P (Pro).
While technical specifications remain under wraps, the "Fuyao" project reportedly centers on a 3-axis stabilized gimbal integrated into a compact form factor - very similar to the Osmo. By leveraging its established expertise in mobile image processing and AI-driven video computational tech, Oppo might be aiming to bridge the gap between high-end smartphones and dedicated vlogging hardware.
Reportedly, if development of Oppo’s gimbal camera continues at its current pace, a commercial release might be scheduled for later in 2026.
Gimbal camera wars: Insta360 Luna Ultra, Oppo, Vivo about to challenge DJI Osmo Pocket 4 and Pocket 4P (Pro)
Oppo isn't the only player looking to dethrone DJI. A series of official teasers, leaks and sightings confirm that the Insta360 Luna Ultra is also launching very soon, offering a modular design and a dual-camera system. Furthermore, Vivo has previously hinted at its own "Pocket-style" gimbal camera.
With DJI, Insta360, and now Oppo all reaching for the pockets of content creators, 2026 is shaping up to be the year of the gimbal camera wars.
