DJI Osmo Pocket 4 has pro-grade "Audio Zoom” and “Spatial Audio" - here is how it works

DJI officially unveiled the Osmo Pocket 4 on April 16, and while the 37MP 1-inch sensor with 4K/240fps video recording is the star of the show, it turns out the audio department has received a massive "spatial" upgrade. Taking a page from Apple’s playbook, the Pocket 4 now supports Spatial Audio recording/playback.
Think of it like the Spatial Audio on an iPhone - when you watch a movie with AirPods, the sound follows your movement and feels like it’s coming from specific points in the room rather than just "inside" your ears.
Well, the Osmo Pocket 4 brings this to your own footage - when you listen back with headphones, the environment feels three-dimensional and immersive. For example, the sound of approaching vehicles will get louder/closer as they get near the Osmo’s internal mic array - or the DJI Mic 3 (bundled in the Creator Combo).

However, that’s not all - to make the video feel even more immersive, DJI added Audio Zoom to the Pocket 4’s bag of tricks. Here is how it works:
- Recording: As you zoom in on a subject (like a street performer), the microphones digitally "narrow" their focus to capture that specific sound while dampening background noise.
- Playback: The result sounds more focused and intentional as the volume and clarity of the subject naturally increase as they get closer on screen - you need headphones to experience the Spatial Audio and Audio Zoom effects.
While the list of Osmo Pocket 4 upgrades starts to sound more and more “spatial”, the leaks and rumors about the Osmo Pocket 4P (Pro) keep coming. The latest info suggests the dual-cam Pocket 4P is getting a 3x zoom camera and a remote control. However, DJI is about to face stiff competition from the Insta360 Luna Ultra. Set for a mid-May launch, the Luna Ultra is rumored to sport a modular design and a staggering 6-12x zoom range.
In related news, DJI is expected to launch at least one new DJI Mic Mini 2 model as soon as April 28.
