All five colors of the Bose SoundLink Micro portable speaker (2nd Gen) are on sale at Amazon following a 23-percent discount from its MSRP of $129, including the Black, Blue Dusk, Petal Pink, Sandstone, and Twilight Blue variants.
SoundLink portable speakers offer Bluetooth wireless connectivity to audio sources. Two units can be paired for stereo output. The battery is rated for up to 12 hours of runtime and charges in 3.0 hours, says Bose. A flexible utility strap allows the speaker to be attached to backpacks or bicycles for outings.
The speakers incorporate Bose sound technology to create sound with a "balanced mid-range" that "represents voices accurately", according to Rtings, which is ideal for listening to podcasts in small rooms.
As a con, its compact size means larger portable speakers from Bose offer better music reproduction and sound coverage of large spaces, according to Rtings reviews. The petite Bose SoundLink Micro is rated 6.4 for music, whereas the large Bose SoundLink Max (also on sale at Amazon for $329) is rated 7.4. Also, the SoundLink Micro is a poor choice for work-from-home employees because it lacks a microphone for online meetings.
