Canon EOS R8 II said to launch soon with retro design

The Canon EOS R8 ($1,549 on Amazon) is already over three years old, and now Canon is said to be planning a successor model. According to the latest information from CanonRumors, Canon will be announcing an EOS R6 V this week, which is aimed specifically at video enthusiasts and should therefore offer a whole range of video-specific optimizations and features.
Even more exciting is the Canon EOS R8 Mark II, which is likely to be positioned as the direct successor to the EOS R8, but which is to be equipped with a completely redesigned body. According to information from CanonRumors, this body will feature a retro design to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Canon AE-1. With over five million units sold, the Canon AE-1 from 1976 is considered one of the manufacturer's most successful cameras and is still a popular option among analog photographers today.
This Canon EOS R8 II is said to be coming to market "soon", but CanonRumors has not yet been able to find out any further details on features, launch date or price. As the Canon AE-1 serves as inspiration, the camera is likely to have a more angular body with a smaller grip and a revised operating concept. It is not yet known whether a lens with a matching retro look will also be offered.
