Oppo unveils new flagship smartphone with impressive camera prowess

Oppo has been endlessly hyping up its newest flagship smartphone, the Find X9 Ultra, over the past few days. Like its numerous predecessors in the Find X lineup, the X9 Ultra is a heavily camera-focused device with a borderline excessive number of camera sensors. Some of its non-camera-related aspects are pretty impressive, too. The smartphone has officially been shown off, and it packs an impressive list of features.
The Oppo Find X9 Ultra employs Qualcomm's latest and fastest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC. Unfortunately, Oppo is not immune to the global memory crisis, because of which the phone caps out at 16 GB of RAM. Storage maxes out at 1 TB, but that has pretty much been the soft cap for most Android devices. The entry-level variants come with 12 GB and 512 GB of memory and storage, respectively.
For the screen, Oppo uses a cutting-edge 6.82-inch AMOLED panel that refreshes at 144 Hz. It has a QHD+ resolution and a maximum brightness of 3,600 nits. Oppo has also included an in-house Display P3 Pro MEMC chip that helps maintain stable framerates in demanding titles. A layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the screen. The smartphone also comes with IP66, IP68 and IP69 protection ratings.
For the battery, Oppo uses a gargantuan 7,000 mAh silicon-carbide cell. It supports 100-Watt fast charging over a cable and 50-Watt wireless charging. However, the latter will require a proprietary charger. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and NFC.
Oppo continues to push the envelope with Hasselblad
Oppo’s long-standing partnership with Hasselblad continues with the Find X9 Ultra. It comes with four camera sensors, all of which offer unique capabilities. For starters, the primary Sony Lytia-901 200 MP sensor supports multiple shooting modes, including 50 MP JPEG Max and JPEG Raw Max. One can also pick between 14mm, 23mm, 47mm, 70mm, 139mm, and 230mm focal lengths.
The primary sensor is accompanied by a 50 MP Samsung JNL sensor with 10x optical zoom, a 50MP Sony LYT-600 ultra-wide-angle lens and a 200 MP OmniVision OV52A lens with 3x optical zoom. A 50 MP Samsung JN5 sensor handles selfies and video calls. Video recording goes all the way up to 8K 30 FPS, although you’ll get the best results at 4K 30 FPS for the best dynamic range.
Oppo offers the Find X9 Ultra in two colourways: Tundra Umber and Canyon Orange. Its price starts at EUR 1,699 (around $1,998 - April 21, 2026), and for that price, you also get an annual Google AI Pro subscription with 5 TB of cloud storage.
