Vivo unveils new budget-range smartphone with large 7,200 mAh battery

Vivo has added a new smartphone in its existing Y-series portfolio, the Vivo Y6 5G. To recall, Vivo announced the Y6t a few days ago. Interestingly, the smartphone is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor as the Y6t. Speaking of dimensions, the device measures just 8.39 mm (0.33 inch) in thickness and weighs around 219 grams (0.48 lbs).
It packs up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage with no room for storage expansion. The smartphone is equipped with a 6.57-inch LCD display with 1570 x 720p resolution, a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. As far as the camera setup is concerned, the Vivo Y6t features a single rear camera setup, consisting of a 50 MP primary camera complemented by an 8 MP snapper at the front for selfies and video chats.
The software side is handled by OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 out of the box. However, there’s no word on the software support from the brand, indicating the software updates may never arrive. Vivo packs a large 7,200 mAh battery into the Y6 5G that supports 44 W wired charging (Anker Nano 45 W GaN charger curr. at $25.99 on Amazon). The rest of the features of the Vivo Y6 include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, an IR blaster, and IP68 and IP69 ingress protection.
Available in silver, gold, and black colorways, the Vivo Y6 starts at CNY 1,799 (~$263) for the base 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, while the 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage models are priced at CNY 1,999 (~$292) and CNY 2,199 (~$322). The smartphone is now available for purchase in China directly from Vivo’s online store. However, there’s no word on its international availability from the brand.
