Low price Xbox Game Pass Starter tier leaks with cloud gaming and Discord Nitro

While Microsoft recently lowered the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate price, it’s still a substantial monthly cost. It seems the company is preparing a Starter tier that could be even more affordable than the Essential plan. Datamined by Better xCloud, the option would include games, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and other bundled subscriptions.
A Game Pass Essential replacement?
Redphx on social media earlier uncovered references to Triton and Duet tiers. In the updated code, they are now called Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition. Many of the previously discovered benefits remain possibilities, with some additional perks.
Originally, Better xCloud found evidence of first-party Xbox games in Triton. While not day-one candidates, first-party favorites from the Doom, Halo, and Fallout series were mentioned. However, Redphx now believes that third-party titles will also be available.
Buyers could expect to find Xbox Cloud Gaming functionality in the new tier. On the other hand, the code suggests streaming with time limits or hourly caps. At the moment, not even Essential imposes those restrictions.
Discord's role in the new Game Pass tier
Finally, the plan emphasizes integrations with other streaming services and subscriptions. Earlier rumors hinted that Microsoft was exploring a partnership with Netflix. World of Warcraft and Minecraft Realms would also be ways for budget-stretched gamers to save money.
New information from Discord Previews may provide clarification on the Game Pass Starter Edition. A leaked banner highlights 50+ games, 10 hours of cloud gaming per month, and the chance to earn Xbox Rewards points. Purchasing a Discord Nitro subscription will provide members with these features.
Microsoft is reportedly searching for ways to add more variety and lower Game Pass prices further. The new plan would offer a sampling of titles, xCloud streaming, and other perks. The goal may be to entice buyers to upgrade to Premium or, eventually, Ultimate. Still, if it's cheaper than the $9.99 Essential, gamers could decide it's the best value.
