Microsoft wants to make things clearer for developers and keep them in the loop for updates to Project Helix. It has announced a new show that will detail the current state and progress on the next-generation Xbox console.

Microsoft has announced a new show called Xbox Game Dev Update, where it will share updates on Project Helix, the next Xbox console. The show is targeted towards game developers and will discuss details about the next-generation console, as well as the hardware and technologies surrounding it.

Bryce Baer, the Senior Director of Xbox Ecosystem Marketing, shared the information on the developer blog, stating that the first episode of Xbox Game Dev Update will air on May 7 on the Microsoft Game Dev YouTube channel.

That’s why we’re starting a new show, bringing highlights directly from the teams building Xbox and sharing technical context and what it means for your work, all in one place. You’ll hear the latest updates from the people behind them, with a clearer view of what’s new and why it matters.

Our goal is to make it easier for you to stay informed, connect the dots, and understand how these changes show up in your day-to-day as a developer. It’s also a way to keep the conversation going with the community as we continue building what’s next together.

The first episode will be hosted by Chris Charla (GM, Portfolio & Programs) and Jason Ronald (VP, Next Generation), and will offer a closer look at Project Helix. It will also include an overview of everything that was unveiled at GDC, including PlayFab, Xbox PC Remote Tools, and more.

While the show is more developer-focused, gamers and fans alike can also tune in to get the latest updates on the state of Project Helix. Microsoft has already stated that developers will receive dev kits early next year, and various reports have reassured the late 20207 release date for the new console. Furthermore, reports have stated that the AMD RDNA GPU powering the next Xbox will not be a custom one, which would make it easier for developers to port games to the console.

Those interested can watch the episode on May 7 at 9am PDT/12pm EDT/6pm CEST.
