The Xbox Game Pass subscription has gone through multiple price increases since launch, and a lot of players felt the service was getting too expensive. However, Microsoft has finally announced a price drop.

Over the years, the Xbox Game Pass subscription has gone through multiple price increases, and the most recent hike didn’t sit well with many users. A lot of players felt the service was starting to get too expensive. Now, not long after reports suggested Microsoft was reviewing the pricing, the company has officially announced a price drop.

According to the latest update, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will now cost $22.99 per month, down from $29.99. PC Game Pass is also getting cheaper, dropping from $16.49 to $13.99 per month.

However, this change comes with an important trade-off. Microsoft has confirmed that future Call of Duty games will no longer launch on Game Pass on day one. Instead, new entries in the series will arrive on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass later, usually during the next holiday season, which is around a year after release. Existing Call of Duty titles that are already part of the library will remain available, so current subscribers won’t lose access to those.

In simple terms, the lower price is tied to the removal of day-one Call of Duty releases. This was one of the biggest selling points for many users, so the change may feel like a downgrade depending on what you expect from the service.
