Insta360 just previewed the Leica-engineered Luna Ultra gimbal camera alongside the Insta360 Mic Pro at NAB 2026. The new mic features "Direct Connect" for receiver-free audio and an E-Ink display for digital branding, positioning Insta360 as a primary rival to the DJI Osmo Pocket and DJI Mic ecosystem. Rumors suggest the Luna Ultra and Mic Pro will officially launch in mid-2026.

At the 2026 NAB show in Las Vegas, Insta360 finally gave us a preview of the Insta360 Luna Ultra, featuring a 1-inch sensors, an f/1.8 apertures, iLOG, and 10-bit color.

However, the most strategic announcement might be in the audio department - the Insta360 Mic Pro, which comes with a major design surprise that no one saw coming.

For one, much like the DJI Mic series (with OsmoAudio), the Insta360 Mic Pro features "Direct Connect" technology, allowing it to integrate instantly with Insta360’s cameras and gimbals. No for external adapters, pairing, or a Bluetooth connection (which equals poor sound quality).

Insta360 Mic Pro challenges DJI Mic 3 with an innovative E-Ink display, AI noise reduction, "Direct Connect" to Insta360 cameras

The big surprise? The Mic Pro features a customizable E-Ink display that allows creators to flash digital logos, emojis, and even their own images directly on the unit. That's exactly a feature you expect to see on a wireless microphone, which makes it even more exciting.

Back to the topic of sound and audio quality, internally, the Mic Pro utilizes a three-capsule array and NPU-based AI noise reduction to ensure pro-grade audio.

By removing setup friction between the mic and its cameras, Insta360 is positioning itself as a direct rival to DJI’s integrated ecosystem, offering a seamless "all-in-one" solution for pro-grade content creation.

All in all, just like DJI has successfully locked creators into a proprietary loop with its DJI Mic and Osmo Pocket/Action cameras, Insta360 is building an audio-video ecosystem, which is understandable since great video quality is nothing without clear audio.

Official pricing and release date for the Luna Ultra, Luna Pro, and the Mic Pro remain under wraps, though rumors point to a June reveal. Until then, Insta360 continues to offer the Insta360 Mic Air.
