reMarkable Paper Pure leaks as a cheaper e-ink tablet with a 3-week runtime

reMarkable is set to launch a new e-ink tablet on Wednesday, May 6, which is to be positioned as a cheaper alternative to the reMarkable 2. Good E-Reader has now discovered the new e-ink tablet shortly before its launch at the online store Auckland Dutyfree so that many details and images of the tablet are available in advance.
With a screen diagonal of 10.3 inches, the tablet is practically the same size as the reMarkable 2, but Paper Pure got rid of the pogo pins on the side, meaning that no keyboard is likely to be offered for the cheaper model. The tablet will only be compatible with the official reMarkable Pen, which will be offered as a bundle with the tablet for an additional charge. The manufacturer was able to reduce the input latency of the stylus to just 21 milliseconds.
In addition to the lack of keyboard compatibility and the cheaper plastic body, reMarkable makes one major compromise for the lower price: the display does not offer a frontlight. This makes the tablet less suitable for reading at night. On the other hand, the 3,820 mAh battery is said to provide a battery life of up to three weeks and is charged via USB-C.
Weighing just 360 grams, reMarkable Paper Pure is lighter than many similarly sized tablets. The device can be connected to the internet via Wi-Fi, while a Bluetooth chip could enable the use of a wireless keyboard. Further details on the features, price and availability should be revealed at the launch on May 6 at the latest.
