In our review, the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro shows significant improvements over its predecessor and has made key enhancements. However, there are still a few trade-offs to consider.

The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro clearly prioritizes exceptional design, setting it apart from the competition in the mid-range segment. The high-quality aluminum unibody gives it a premium feel, while the familiar Glyph lighting on the back once again serves as a distinctive selling point. Overall, the build quality impresses with a sturdy construction and tight gaps. However, there is a slight drawback when it comes to water resistance: The smartphone is only IP65-certified and thus protected only against water jets.

Technically, the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is also well-equipped. A particularly pleasant surprise is the support for Wi-Fi 6E, including tri-band Wi-Fi, which enables high data transfer rates. Added to this are eSIM support, dual-SIM functionality, and a reliable in-display fingerprint sensor. The new position of the so-called Essential Key also prevents accidental inputs and sensibly expands the AI features.

The 6.83-inch OLED display impresses with its high brightness, vibrant colors, and smooth visuals. Thanks to high-frequency PWM dimming, it’s better suited for users sensitive to screen flicker, although slight flickering is still present. A Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, paired with up to 12 GB of RAM, provides the necessary performance. In everyday use, the smartphone delivers stable and fast performance without any noticeable slowdowns, even under heavy load.

The camera setup is a real highlight: both the main camera and the periscope zoom have a resolution of 50 MP and deliver strong results for this price range. The zoom, in particular, stands out from many competitors and even allows for extreme digital zoom. The ultra-wide-angle camera, on the other hand, is weaker. Videos can be recorded at a maximum of 4K at 30 FPS.

The overall package is rounded out by decent speakers, very strong battery life, and fast charging at up to 50 watts. The only criticism remains the update policy, which offers only three major Android updates. Overall, however, the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro (buy here on Amazon) offers a strong overall package for users who value design, good battery life, and a standout camera.
