Motorola brings new book-style foldable to more markets with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC

Following the US launch, Motorola has now officially unveiled its first-ever book-style foldable, the Razr Fold, in India. The smartphone comes as a direct rival to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 5G (curr. available at $1649.99 on Amazon) and the Vivo X Fold 5. Speaking of price, the foldable starts at INR 149,999 ($1,565) for the base 12 GB + 256 GB model and INR 159,999 ($1,670) for the top-end 16 GB + 512 GB variant.
Alongside, the company has also introduced the Razr Fold FIFA World Cup Edition in India, which is priced at INR 169,999 ($1,775). Interested buyers can now pre-order the foldable smartphone via Motorola India’s official website, with shipments commencing on May 20.
Feature-wise, it retains the same specs as the global version. Speaking more precisely, the Motorola Razr is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset paired with up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage with no room for storage expansion. It runs Android 16 out of the box, and interestingly, Motorola promises seven major Android updates (up to Android 23) and seven years of security patches until 2033.
A 6,000 mAh battery powers the smartphone and supports 80 W wired, 50 W wireless, and 5 W reverse charging. Furthermore, the book-style foldable is equipped with an 8.1-inch LTPO P-OLED 120 Hz main screen and a 6.6-inch LTPO P-OLED 165 Hz cover display. The former resolves at a 2484 x 2232 pixel resolution, while the latter outputs at a 1080p resolution.
For photography, it has a triple rear camera setup at the rear, consisting of a 50 MP primary camera, a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens, and a 50 MP ultrawide camera. Up front, you get two selfie cameras: 20 MP on the main display and a 32 MP snapper on the cover screen.
