Nothing has officially announced the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro. The (3a) series successors come equipped with Snapdragon 7-series processors, periscope zoom cameras and new iterations of the company’s Glyph lighting interface. Both devices ship with Nothing OS 4.1 based on Android 16 and will receive three Android updates and six years of security patches.
The Phone (4a) Pro sits at the top of the lineup and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset built on a 4 nm process. It features an octa-core Kryo CPU clocked up to 2.8 GHz alongside an Adreno 722 GPU and Qualcomm’s Hexagon AI engine. The device is offered in configurations up to 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM with 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
On the front, the phone carries a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1260 × 2800 resolution, 450 PPI, and a 144 Hz adaptive refresh rate. Nothing lists peak brightness at up to 5000 nits, while adding that touch sampling can reach 2500 Hz in gaming scenarios.
The camera system includes a 50 MP Sony LYT700C main sensor with OIS and a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera capable of 3.5× optical zoom and up to 140× digital zoom. An 8 MP Sony ultra-wide camera and a 32 MP front camera complete the setup. The phone supports Ultra XDR imaging and 4K Ultra XDR video recording.
The regular Phone (4a) runs on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and is available with up to 12 GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB storage. It features a slightly smaller 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with a 1224 × 2720 resolution, a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 4500 nits.
Both phones use a triple-camera setup that includes a 50 MP main camera, a 50 MP periscope lens with 3.5× optical zoom and up to 70× digital zoom on the standard model, and an 8 MP ultra-wide sensor. A 32 MP front camera handles selfies and video calls.
Nothing’s signature lighting system also differs between the two models. The Phone (4a) uses a redesigned Glyph Bar with 63 mini-LEDs across multiple lighting zones, while the Phone (4a) Pro introduces a Glyph Matrix made up of 137 mini-LEDs that can display pixel-style notifications, icons and animations across a larger illuminated surface.
