Official: Vivo confirms new X300 Ultra will surpass Galaxy S26 Ultra in key area

Vivo is stepping up its X300 Ultra teaser campaign after showcasing the device earlier this week during MWC 2026 in Barcelona. To recap, the company focused on the device's new teleconverter accessories. A 400 mm teleconverter is noteworthy in of itself. Nonetheless, Vivo executive has already pivoted to what internal camera hardware innovations the company will be bringing to market with the X300 Ultra.
For instance, the executive has confirmed that the X300 Ultra will be launching with Sony's LYT-901 sensor. A 200 MP sensor, the LYT-901 is yet to be used on any smartphone. While the Xiaomi 17 Ultra utilises a 200 MP sensor for its telephoto camera, the X300 Ultra will be following the Galaxy S26 Ultra by employing this massive resolution for its primary camera instead.
However, the X300 Ultra will feature a significantly larger sensor than Samsung's latest flagship (curr. $1,299 on Amazon). Specifically, the LYT-901 offers a 1/1.12-inch optical format rather than the 1/1.3-inch equivalent inside the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Moreover, the Vivo X300 Ultra will combine this sensor with a 35 mm lens that benefits from about 30% lower reflectivity thanks to a new ultra-low reflection coating.
According to Han Bo Xiao, the change will provide the X300 Ultra with over 30% increased light sensitivity than the X200 Ultra. Writing on Weibo, the executive adds that the X300 Ultra supports the Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA) CIPA 6.5 image stabilisation. All this hardware will work with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5's image signal processor (ISP), too. It remains unclear when Vivo will release the X300 Ultra at this stage, though.
