Warhammer 40,000 Speed Freeks: This Twisted Metal alternative is coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series S|X

It has been more than a dozen years since the last Twisted Metal video game was released, and that was for the PlayStation 3. Even, despite the recent release of a TV series based on the game, Sony/PlayStation hasn't announced a new title for the combat racing franchise, although it did release new merchandise based on the game. Thankfully, other developers are filling the gap left by Sony, and one of such games is even coming to the PlayStation 5 soon.

Set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Caged Element and Wired Productions, have announced that their vehicular combat game, Speed Freeks (not to be confused with the 1999 video game, Speed Freaks) will be coming to the PS5 (1TB disc version available on Amazon for $549.99) and Xbox Series S|X consoles.

Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks is a PvP multiplayer game, but also has a single player mode where you play against bots. The console version also has a multiplayer level editor and an in-game workshop that allows players to upload custom maps to the cloud for others to play.

The title, which was originally released in 2025 for PCs, is made by the same developer that made the racing game, Grip: Combat Racing. Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks is currently available on Steam for $19.99 and has received very positive reviews. However, there's no info on how much it will cost when it launches on the PS5. There's also no release date yet, but you can wishlist it now on the PS store and Microsoft store.
