Starfield PS5 release date and pre-order info leak, as Xbox exclusive heads to Sony console

After several rumors, a reliable source has now confirmed that a Starfield PS5 port exists. PlayStation fans won’t have to wait long for the Bethesda game, with a release date set for April 7th. Billbil-kun has also shared pre-order details, which include a discounted launch price.
Starfield PS5 pre-order info leaks
Standard and Premium Editions for the galactic adventure arrive on April 7th. Currently, the benefits of the pricier option are unclear, but early access is not planned. Pre-orders should begin on either March 17th or 18th, with an official announcement possibly revealing the dates.
The former Xbox exclusive game will cost buyers less on the rival console. The Dealabs article quotes €49.99/£44.99 for the Starfield PS5 Standard Edition and €69.99/£59.99 for the Premium Edition. Costs are likely to be similar for U.S. audiences at major retailers and the PS Store.
Billbil-kun also alleviated any fears of digital-only distribution. At least in some regions, buyers will be able to pre-order a physical version before the Starfield PS5 release date.
As part of a cross-platform publishing initiative, reports that Microsoft was planning to bring the RPG to PlayStation surfaced in March 2024. While it has taken longer than some fans expected, the one-time Xbox exclusive is finally ready to make the transition. The title follows Bethesda projects like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, already on Sony’s console.
Is a Starfield sequel coming?
It’s anticipated that a significant Starfield update could coincide with the PS5 launch. After gamers speculated about a 2.0 sequel, Todd Howard recently downplayed the scope of the patch. Nevertheless, it may add ship-building features and continue to tweak gameplay mechanics.
Developers already made significant changes when the Shattered Space expansion debuted in September 2024. After a rocky launch, performance has improved, and a mod community thrives. Nevertheless, critics wonder how anxious PlayStation loyalists will be to take flight in the Bethesda RPG.
