The Analogue Pocket is back. The handheld gaming device, which can play Nintendo Game Boy cartridges via an FPGA chip, will be available again from March 4, including the accompanying docking station. However, Analogue is raising the price for a second time.

The Analogue Pocket Gaming Handheld was originally announced in October 2019 for $199. By the time pre-orders began in December 2021, the price had already been raised to $219. Now, it's undergoing a second price increase.

After being sold out for the past few weeks, the gaming handheld will be available for order again from the manufacturer's online store starting Wednesday, March 4, but for $239. The accompanying docking station will also be available for order at the same time for $99.99. Both products are expected to ship starting in June 2026. As Analogue has stated on X, this latest price increase is due to US tariffs, which are currently set at 10% on imports from around the world.

Analogue does ship to Europe, but doesn't offer a discount to European buyers, even though there would be no customs duties if shipped directly from China. With import VAT, $42 shipping, and potential fees from the shipping provider, European customers end up paying almost €300 for the gaming handheld.

The Analogue Pocket is unique on the market because, unlike the Anbernic RG40XXV, for example, the Analogue Pocket doesn't play any ROM files via an emulator. Instead, original game cartridges are played via an FPGA chip, which is supposed to reproduce games particularly well. The 3.5-inch display has 1,600 x 1,440 on each axis, exactly ten times the resolution of a Game Boy, ensuring perfect scaling of games. Further details about the specifications can be found on Analogue's website.
