Laysara: Summit Kingdom hit its 1.0 release on Feb 27, 2026 - the game secured a "Very Positive" 83% rating and a 1,024 player peak. The vertical city builder introduces a 15-mission campaign and a 50% launch discount.

Ending a two-year early access period that started in April 2024, Laysara: Summit Kingdom has officially reached its full 1.0 release on Steam. Developed by the micro-indie studio Quite OK Games, the title shadow-dropped its final version on February 27, 2026, alongside an expansion to all major consoles, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The launch has apparently reignited interest in the project, which originally became viral online years ago. This helped it climb back into the Steam top sellers list with a concurrent player peak of 1,024 within its first 48 hours.

Unlike traditional flatland city builders like Cities: Skylines, Laysara is a pure economic strategy game that is more about verticality and survival. There is no combat or military management; the primary "enemy" is gravity and the mountain environment. Players have to establish multiple interconnected towns across different mountains, each with unique resource distributions and weather patterns. The core loop of the game is built around building upward - this, in turn, satisfies the complex needs of a three-caste society - Lowlanders, Artisans, and Monks. All this while, you have to work out the physical constraints of steep cliffs and narrow ridges.

The 1.0 update finally brings a structured narrative through a 15-mission campaign mode, which should serve as helpful context for the displaced people of Laysara who have been forced to rebuild their civilization in the clouds. The ultimate objective of most maps is "conquering" the peak by raising a massive Summit Temple, which requires channeling a vast amount of resources to the highest altitudes. The tone is mostly calm and atmospheric. The art style is painterly and unique, and the meditative soundscape is genuinely appreciated by players.

The primary hook is the Avalanche system. Avalanches are a constant threat that can bury entire districts, so players have to build artificial barriers or plant forests to redirect the flow of snow. Logistics are handled through a manual transport network consisting of paved roads, bridges, and vertical shafts.

The game is pretty accessible as well.

Recommended Specs: Quad-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a GTX 660 equivalent.

Steam Deck: The game is currently rated as "Playable." While it runs at a stable framerate, users on the forums do add that the default controller layout often requires the touchscreen for certain menu interactions or manual virtual keyboard invocation.

The Steam review aggregate is currently "Very Positive" (83%) across nearly 1,000 reviews. Early reviewers absolutely love the meaningful content added in the 1.0 update, particularly the campaign and refined endgame. To celebrate the launch of Laysara: Summit Kingdom, the game is currently available for $12.49 (50% off MSRP) until March 13, 2026. For collectors, a physical "Collector’s Edition" has also been announced for PlayStation 5 (curr. $444 on Amazon) and Switch, with a design book and a collectible yak figure.
