Capcom insider hints at big Resident Evil series meeting after Resident Evil Requiem launch

Capcom’s signature survival horror franchise is already shifting into post-launch planning following the release of Resident Evil Requiem (RE9), according to a new post that surfaced on X/Twitter. The game just debuted on February 27 across PC and consoles to a positive response, and apparently, this appears to have sparked internal discussions about the series' direction.
The leak (see below), courtesy of reliable industry source @AestheticGamer (also known as Dusk Golem), hints that Capcom may be convening a "big meeting" in 2027 to evaluate feedback and data gathered from Requiem, alongside other recent franchise releases like Resident Evil 4 Remake and Resident Evil Village. The tipster further claims that this meeting could shape future titles and release strategies.
Resident Evil Requiem itself is a huge moment for the series. The ninth mainline entry brings back the tone and mechanics of classic survival horror and sets it against modern action elements. RE9 has earned strong early reviews for its dual protagonist system, cinematic approach, and horror atmosphere. Critics have loved the "balance between tension and spectacle". Many outlets are calling it one of Capcom’s most confident entries in years. The game launched across platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 (curr. $499 on Amazon for the Mario Kart World Bundle). It features franchise favorite Leon S. Kennedy alongside a new character, Grace Ashcroft.
Capcom’s approach to Requiem has been a little different this time around - the company is "evolving" the franchise after several successful remakes and reinventions. The news more than likely means the publisher is planning how best to leverage said player feedback and performance metrics, with the likely consideration of future games - including DLC content and even the next numbered title, Resident Evil 10, which leaks have suggested could target a 2029 window.
