Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem is already being pushed beyond its intended platforms. A new test shows the PC version running on an Android flagship through PC emulation, delivering surprisingly strong performance in certain scenes.

Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem has only recently launched on PC and consoles, but early experiments are already pushing the game far beyond its intended platforms. For instance, we recently saw the game run smoothly on MacBooks despite having no official macOS port, and we also saw how well it runs on a popular Linux distro.

Now, another test from the YouTube channel ETA Prime shows the PC version of the game running on an Android phone through emulation.

The test was conducted on the RedMagic 11 Pro, which we reviewed last year and rated positively. The device is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. Instead of relying on streaming or cloud gaming, the title is emulated locally using the GameHub application, which allows Windows games from Steam to run on Android devices.

According to the testing, the game boots with very little setup and can run at 720p with low settings using AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR 3.1) set to Performance mode. Frame generation was disabled due to stability issues during testing, according to the creator, although the emulator also allows optional super-resolution scaling through GameHub itself.

Resident Evil Requiem performance on the Red Magic 11 Pro varied depending on the scene. Indoor areas, which make up a large portion of the gameplay, perform surprisingly well, with frame rates often climbing into the 60-70 FPS range when the frame rate is unlocked. In smaller enclosed spaces, the frame rate can even spike up to 100 FPS.

Outdoor sections are more demanding. In larger environments with more on-screen action and detail, performance drops to roughly 40-45 FPS.

The test system was configured in the phone’s “Rise” performance mode to push CPU and GPU clocks higher. Despite the device’s built-in fan and liquid cooling system, sustained workloads still cause thermal throttling. PC emulation remains extremely demanding on mobile hardware, and the Snapdragon chip can draw well over 20 watts of power while attempting to maintain performance.

Memory also plays an important role. The tested Red Magic device includes 16 GB of RAM, which appears to be important for running modern PC titles through emulation. The creator notes that devices with 8 GB may struggle, while 12 GB could work but might still be limiting depending on the game.

While this kind of setup is far from replacing handheld PCs like the Steam Deck or ROG Ally, the results show how quickly ARM devices are advancing. The creator also suggests that upcoming ARM-based gaming platforms, such as Valve’s rumored ARM hardware initiatives, could accelerate development of better x86-to-ARM translation tools.
