Resident Evil Requiem performance review shows major PS5 Pro advantages over other consoles

Digital Foundry’s Resident Evil Requiem review praises its detailed environments and characters on all consoles. However, the Capcom survival horror title especially shines on the PS5 Pro. Calling it one of the best enhanced games for the system yet, it offers 4K/120Hz gameplay with minimal compromises.
Resident Evil Requiem PS5 Pro performance
On Sony’s flagship PS5 Pro, gamers choose between a 60 fps option with ray tracing enabled and a 120Hz performance mode without the added lighting effects. With the first option, frame rates hold steady, with only slight dips in more complex scenes. Graphics are “close to native 4K resolution”, with temporal upscaling boosting 1080p pixel counts.
The smoother 120Hz setting disables ray tracing, sacrificing some of the eerily authentic lighting. Frame rates are less consistent, often falling into the 90s. Objects also become more blurry, occasionally distorting parts of buildings in the distance.
Regardless, the Resident Evil Requiem performance review concludes that the higher refresh rate mode compares favorably to the base console. Horror fans can experience more fluid gameplay with the same visual fidelity displayed at 60 fps on the PS5. The loss of RT is not a dealbreaker, as the intricate environmental modeling survives.
PS5 Pro potential fulfilled
The PS5 Pro has faced criticism for a lack of support from Sony and its partners. Titles that struggle on other gaming systems, like Borderlands 4, launched without upgrade patches. Still, on its release date, Capcom’s title may be one of the better executed PS5 Pro enhanced games.
Fortunately, all players can appreciate the significant leap in graphics over past Resident Evil games. The Xbox Series X version is comparable to the PS5, where the finest details on Leon and Grace’s clothing stand out. Despite its lower horsepower, early signs for Nintendo’s handheld are also promising. Digital Foundry is preparing to launch its Switch 2 performance review.
The Resident Evil Requiem release date arrives on February 27th. Capcom plans midnight unlock times for consoles in North America and Europe. Notebookcheck has also posted first impressions of the game in video form.
