Xiaomi is on the verge of releasing the Xiaomi 17 Ultra globally. Until recently, the device was only expected to arrive alongside the Xiaomi 17. However, Xiaomi has now clarified that the Leica Edition will be launching globally on February 28, albeit under a different name.
The company has not forgotten its Chinese fans just yet. In fact, Xiaomi has decided to bring across a feature to the Xiaomi 17 Ultra that was previously exclusively available on the Leica Edition. As the screenshot below shows, the former's February 2026 update contains more than just an obligatory security patch. Instead, it bundles several optimisations and new features too, many of which focus on improving the camera experience.
On the one hand, HyperOS 3.0.15.0.WPACNXM introduces Leica Instant Mode 1x Tap Zoom, a camera mode that was previously restricted to the Leica Edition. On the other hand, the new update also refines Xiaomi's dual-view mode, adds a standard watermark to the 200 MP mode and optimises dynamic range when shooting with Dolby Vision enabled. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether these features will launch with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra globally to rival the new Galaxy S26 Ultra.
