Xiaomi releases Xiaomi 17 globally with new version

Earlier this week, Samsung released the Galaxy S26 (curr. $899 on Amazon) globally. Now, Xiaomi has responded in kind with the Xiaomi 17 alongside the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and the Leica Leitzphone. Originally launched over five months ago in China, the Xiaomi 17 is roughly the same size as the Galaxy S26 thanks to its 6.3-inch display.
Ultimately, almost everything that we observed during our review of Xiaomi's Chinese models should remain true for this global version. For instance, the global model retains a 3,500-nit AMOLED display with quad 50 MP cameras, including a 60 mm telephoto sensor. Likewise, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset returns, as does 50 W wireless and 100 W wired charging support.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi has dropped the Xiaomi 17's battery capacity by 9.5% for its global release from 7,000 mAh to 6,330 mAh. As a result, the device is unlikely to last as long as our Chinese review unit. Also, Xiaomi has replaced its White version available in China with a Venture Green alternative to complement Black, Ice Blue and Alpine Pink versions.
The Xiaomi 17 comes in two memory configurations, both with 12 GB of RAM. The device starts at €999 (~$1,179) with 256 GB of storage. Alternatively, the Xiaomi 17 can be purchased with 512 GB storage €100 extra. Pre-orders placed before March 14 will be eligible to purchase a Xiaomi Tag for €0.99 and a 120 W power adapter for €29 instead of €59. Please see Xiaomi's website for more details.
