Xiaomi launches new ultra-premium smartphone with special design

Xiaomi's Leica Edition smartphone is now available globally, albeit under a different name and with a tweaked design. Specifically, the Leica Edition has made its way outside China as the 'Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi'. Also, Xiaomi has dropped the two-tone effect with which the Leica Edition is sold.
Instead, the Leica Leitzphone comes in a black finish with silver sides. Designed to celebrate Leica's 100th anniversary, the Leica Leitzphone features a nickel-anodised aluminium housing and logos that have been rotated by 90 degrees from the Leica Edition. Additionally, Xiaomi has included a knurled dial that controls zoom levels; Leica M3 and Leica M9 camera styles return from the Leica Edition, too.
Elsewhere, the Leica Leitzphone features the same hardware as the global version of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Thus, the handset challenges flagships like the X300 Ultra and Galaxy S26 Ultra (curr. $1,299 on Amazon) with a 6.9-inch and 1-120 Hz AMOLED display, a 6,000 mAh battery and a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Moreover, the Leica Leitzphone features 50 MP primary, 50 MP ultra-wide-angle, 50 MP front-facing and 200 MP telephoto cameras.
The Leica Leitzphone is available in a single configuration. Incidentally, this differs not just from the Leica Edition sold in China but also from the global versions of the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Xiaomi has priced the Leica Leitzphone at €1,999 (~$2,359) with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage for a €300 surcharge over the standard Xiaomi 17 Ultra. More details about the Leica Leitzphone can be found on Xiaomi's website.
