Xiaomi Max AI zoom camera offers 12× zoom and 360° PTZ control

Xiaomi has announced a new smart camera. The Smart Camera 4 Max AI Zoom Edition is now listed on Xiaomi YouPin. It’s priced at the equivalent of around $116, which is relatively high for a surveillance camera. Several other Xiaomi models are also available from Amazon at lower prices. The launch on Xiaomi YouPin is scheduled for just under six days from now, and there’s no word yet on availability in other markets.

The Xiaomi Smart Camera 4 Max AI Zoom Edition aims to impress with a strong feature set. It’s a PTZ model, meaning the camera unit can tilt and rotate on its base. It supports 360° rotation—allowing a full turn around its axis—and 180° tilt, enabling coverage of larger spaces.

The camera features two image sensors: a 12-megapixel sensor with a resolution of 4,096 × 3,072 pixels and an 8-megapixel sensor at 3,840 × 2,160 pixels. Xiaomi advertises a 12× hybrid zoom, including a lossless 3× optical zoom. It also offers advanced image recognition capabilities, such as monitoring pet behavior. As usual, data transmission runs via Wi-Fi 6, while power still requires a physical cable connection.
