Resident Evil Requiem runs so well on Switch 2 that even the devs couldn’t believe it

Resident Evil Requiem is said to be the largest game in the franchise, and not just by size. It is set to release on February 27 on all platforms, including the Switch 2. Following the first teaser trailer that showed the game running on the handheld, fans have been waiting to know how the game would perform. Now, the developers have shared great news for Switch 2 owners looking forward to experiencing the game on the platform.
During a Nintendo Creator’s Voice video, Capcom director Koshi Nakanishi spoke about Resident Evil Requiem, his inspirations for the game, and the survival horror era. He then spoke about the game on the Switch 2, and said the team was surprised at how well it ran on the handheld. “The Nintendo Swtich 2 system has improved graphical specs, so we wondered if Requiem could run on it – and it did, with ease.”
He went on to say that the team was initially skeptical about the performance, but were pleasantly surprised, and went on to develop it as-is for the handheld. In handheld mode, the game looks great, Nakanishi added.
The studio director also appreciated Switch 2’s Game Chat feature which he believes is perfect for Resident Evil Requiem as players have a choice to feel less lonely and scared while playing the game.
It’s unfortunate that Resident Evil Requiem has been subject to several leaks, be it storyline leaks from early copies or gameplay videos. The leaks prompted ex-Capcom director to wish death on offending gamers, calling it a detestable act that destroys everyone’s happiness. Hopefully, with the release just around the corner, there won’t be any more major leaks that spoil the fun for those looking forward to playing.
