Resident Evil: Requiem producer tells gamers “Sharpen your tomahawks" for upcoming DLC

Resident Evil: Requiem’s producer is currently encouraging fans to complete the game by next week, as the title’s first DLC, a mini-game, is releasing soon. With Japan’s Golden Week holiday period on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to wrap up Requiem’s main story and get ready for its upcoming DLC, which might be akin to Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Mercenaries mode.
Director Koshi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazawa recently sat down for an interview with Denfaminicogamer and openly discussed Resident Evil: Requiem’s development, the game’s future, and upcoming DLC content. This interview comes just a month after Nakanishi revealed that a mini-game is in the works for Requiem, slated for release in May.
Now, Nakanishi has shared new details, revealing that the mini-game can only be played after players complete the main storyline at least once. Kumazawa also chimed in, encouraging players to focus on the main story first during Golden Week, which spans from April 28 to May 6. He said:
“This mini-game is unlocked once you complete the main story. So, if you’re planning to play it, I think clearing the main story during Golden Week will be just the right timing.”
Players must finish the main story first
So far, it’s been revealed that the mode makes the most of Requiem’s combat system for players looking for some extra action, which calls to mind RE4’s Mercenaries mode. Nakanishi said, “That’s right. As we’ve mentioned, it’s a mini-game, and it’s strictly based on the battles in the main game. That said, I think players who’ve cleared the main game and are thinking, ‘I still want to go wild,’ will find this exciting and fun, so please sharpen your tomahawks and stay tuned.”
That’s pretty much it for the mini-game DLC. However, another story-focused DLC is also in the works, which could be tied to Chris Redfield either before or after the events of Resident Evil Requiem, but take this information with a grain of salt.
Nakanishi kept things vague and said, “Regarding the additional story DLC, all I can say at this stage is that it’s currently in full production, so please look forward to it. However, development on the mini-game is already in its final stages.”
