Leak reveals a new God of War spinoff game is coming with a familiar female protagonist

At the last State of Play, PlayStation Studios unveiled a new entry in the God of War series of video games titled Sons of Sparta. It also announced that it was remaking the original trilogy of games. However, prior to these announcements, there have been rumors of another title in development. Now, a reliable leaker has provided more details of the upcoming game.
Previous reports said Sony was developing a sequel to God of War: Ragnarok, that is based on Egyptian mythology. However, according to a report by Wccftech, the LinkedIn profile of a former Sony Santa Monica staff, revealed the game to be a “franchise within the God of War universe”. Now, the popular leaker, Nate the Hate, has provided more details.
Posting on X, the leaker says details he has heard confirm the game is set within the God of War universe, and that the lead character will be Faye. Faye was the mother of Atreus and the second wife of Kratos. She was first mentioned in God of War (2018) but didn't make an appearance until its 2022 sequel. Considering the character died before the first game began, it is unclear how she is the protagonist for this new title. However, a possible explanation is that the game may be a prequel to God of War (2018).
The leaker also revealed that the gameplay for the new title will differ from that of the Norse God of War games i.e. God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarok, and will also focus more on action. Another important detail provided is that Sony plans to reveal the game this year and then release it in the first half of 2027, provided there are no delays.
Christopher Judge, the vocice actor for Kratos, had previously hinted that there would be an announcement about the next God of War title in late summer. If this is the same game, then there's just a few months of waiting, before the first official reveal.
