Apple has refreshed the iPad Air. Still available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, the iPad Air has gained 50% more RAM and 30% more performance. The new iPad Air M4 receives Apple's C1X 5G modem too.

Apple has updated the iPad Air in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. Previously available with the Apple M3 chipset (curr. $799 on Amazon), the new iPad Air joins the iPhone 17e as the two devices that Apple has introduced today. Based on a recent Tim Cook tweet, more product launches will be occurring before March 4.

In short, the main upgrade for this year's iPad Air is Apple's M4 chipset. Specifically, Apple has opted for the 8 CPU-core and 9 GPU-core variant. While not the most powerful Apple M4 variant, it should help the new iPad Air run at around 30% faster than its predecessor and 2.3x faster than older Apple M1 options.

Moreover, Apple installs a C1X 5G modem to reduce power consumption, as well as 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB to 1 TB of storage. Unfortunately, display specifications remain locked at 60 Hz IPS panels with 500 nits for the 11-inch variant and 600 nits for its 13-inch counterpart. Stereo speakers return, as do dual 12 MP cameras and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.

The new iPad Air starts at $599 as an 11-inch tablet with 128 GB of storage. Meanwhile, 13-inch models start at $799, each in a choice of four colours. Prices can stretch up to $1,449 with 1 TB of storage and cellular connectivity, though. Sales will open on March 4 at 14:15 UTC.
