iPhone 17e: Apple delivers new budget iPhone with three major upgrades over older model

Apple has kicked off a busy launch week with the introduction of the iPhone 17e. Shared alongside an updated iPad Air, the iPhone 17e departs from the existing iPhone 16e in a few areas (curr. $393 - refurbished on Amazon). Most noticeably, the iPhone 17e has gained a Soft Pink colour option.
Design-wise, the iPhone 17e is otherwise identical to its predecessor with an unchanged 6.31-inch OLED display that continues to deliver a 460 PPI, 1,200 nit peak brightness and a 60 Hz refresh rate. Likewise, the 12 MP front-facing and 48 MP rear-facing cameras return. The latter has now been expanded to support Focus Control, though.
Other upgrades include the adoption of Ceramic Shield 2 glass, MagSafe and the Apple A19 chipset. Incidentally, MagSafe adds 2 g in weight to bring the iPhone 17e up to 169 g out of the box. Unfortunately, Apple has capped MagSafe charging at 15 W on the iPhone 17e.
Also, the Apple A19 chipset ships with 4 GPU cores, one fewer than the iPhone 17. Apple quotes the same battery life for the iPhone 16e and iPhone 17e, too. Pricing also remains unchanged at $599. However, the iPhone 17e starts with twice as much storage. If 256 GB is not enough, then Apple will also offer a 512 GB variant for $799. Sales open at 14:15 UTC on March 4.
