Apple's new Studio Display contains minimal upgrades over its four-year-old predecessor.
Apple has finally upgraded the Studio Display after four years. Not only has pricing remained unchanged, but so has the Studio Display's underlying panel technology. In fact, only two major upgrades separate the new Studio Display from its predecessor.

Apple has continued with its early March mega launch by introducing a slew of new devices globally. To recap, the company presented the iPhone 17e and new iPad Air tablets yesterday. Now, it has pivoted to a new Studio Display, which has been joined by an upgraded Studio Display XDR.

For context, Apple introduced the original Studio Display roughly four years ago (curr. $1,669 with nano-texture glass on Amazon). Nonetheless, the 27-inch, 5K, 600 nit and 60 Hz panel from the original Studio Display returns. For this generation, Apple claims to have included upgraded speakers that produce 30% deeper bass than the original Studio Display. Also, Thunderbolt 3 connectivity has made way for two Thunderbolt 5 ports, which are joined by two USB Type-C ports.

The new Studio Display starts at $1,599 with standard glass and a tilt-adjustable stand or a VESA mount adapter. Next up is a tilt and height-adjustable stand variant, for which Apple charges an extra $400. Meanwhile, nano-texture glass variants cost at least $1,899.

Consequently, the new Studio Display costs up to $2,299 before taxes when optioned with a height adjustable stand and nano-texture glass. Pre-orders will open at 14:15 UTC on March 4, with shipments starting on March 11. Please see Apple's website for more details.
