Apple confirms first 2026 launch event with over half a dozen new devices rumoured

Apple has finally confirmed the date for its first launch event of 2026. Arriving after numerous rumours and leaks, the new event has been earmarked as a 'Special Apple Experience' to distinguish it from the company's typical events and press release drops.
As the image below shows, the event will start at 09:00 ET (14:00 UTC) on March 4. In true Apple fashion, it has said nothing more about what is in store yet. Nonetheless, recent leaks and rumours provide a few insights ahead of time.
For instance, the company is expected to replace the iPhone 16e (curr. $387 - refurbished on Amazon) with a direct successor. Reportedly, the iPhone 17e will gain built-in MagSafe support, as well as an Apple A19 chipset, an 18 MP front-facing camera, and perhaps even a Dynamic Island-based OLED display.
The March 4 event is also expected to be when Apple updates its MacBook Pro range to M5 Pro and M5 Max chipsets. Likewise, the MacBook Air should move up to the Apple M5 in its 13-inch and 15-inch forms. Moreover, the iPad and iPad Air should receive chipset upgrades too, albeit to the Apple A18 and Apple M4, respectively.
Arguably, the biggest hardware releases will be a Studio Display 2 and a more affordable MacBook. For reference, the former is expected to move to a 90 Hz or 120 Hz Mini LED panel with HDR support and an A19 chipset. Meanwhile, the latter is tipped to be Apple's first A18 Pro-based MacBook. Currently, this MacBook is also anticipated to feature a raft of new colour options not available on current MacBook Air or MacBook Pro machines.
