Blender temporarily abandons Apple iPad app development in favor of Android

Blender users who have been holding out for an iPadOS variant of the popular 3D software will have to deal with some displeasing news. According to an official statement released by the company, the Blender for iPad project has been delayed indefinitely.
Developer Dalai Felinto updated the project's official GitHub page to indicate that it was on hold until further notice. In simpler terms, the project has been shelved for the time being, with limited visibility for the future. Although no specific reasons were provided, MacRumors did point out that developer Dalai has commented that the team has decided to now focus on Android tablets instead.

The Blender for touch-enabled tablets was first announced in July of last year, aiming to bring the full-fledged Blender experience to portable tablets with stylus support, such as the Apple Pencil. Blender clearly mentioned that there will be no difference between how the company views desktop users and tablet users, indicating that there will be no major feature limitations.
As promised in the aforementioned July 2025 press release, the company demoed Blender running on an Apple iPad Pro (13" currently $1,218 on Amazon) at SIGGRAPH 2025. Clearly, the project did receive major attention, and the possibility of the application finally making its iPad debut sometime in the future is far from unlikely.
