Marvel’s Spider-Man games may never surface on Xbox consoles. Insomniac Games dismissed the chances that the PlayStation exclusives would eventually support the platform. Many single-player games published by Sony are only available on the PS5 and PC.

Even as some former PlayStation exclusives land on Xbox consoles, Spider-Man games remain an exception. On social media, developer Insomniac Games said it’s “not likely” that players will see Xbox ports. Regardless, Microsoft’s rumored Windows-based hardware could welcome the PS5 and PC titles.

In 2018, Marvel’s Spider-Man debuted on the PS4, before a remastered edition graced the PS5 in 2020.  Desktop and laptop gamers would finally gain access to the action-adventure series in 2022. The 2023 Spider-Man 2 took a similar approach, with the PS5 version coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store in 2025. Unfortunately, Xbox Series X|S owners have been left out of the fun.

Fans were quick to point out comments that Insomniac Games made about its first record-selling web slinger. In 2017, it proclaimed that Spider-Man would “never appear on the Xbox or PC.” That statement proved to be partly false, as Sony couldn’t resist bringing the PlayStation exclusive to Windows.

Spider-Man may not be part of Sony's cross-platform plans

Even with an imperfect track record, there may be reason to believe the studio. Like Microsoft, Sony Interactive Entertainment has been making a multi-platform push. Helldivers 2 is now available on Xbox, while Bungie’s Marathon will arrive on its rival in March. Yet, both are live-service multiplayer titles. Sony has been careful to distinguish these from its narrative-driven projects with solo gameplay.

SIE CEO Hermen Hulst earlier downplayed the possibility of PS5 games like Ghost of Yōtei of  porting to the Xbox Series X|S. In a June 2025 interview, he explained that tentpole single-player titles “showcase the performance and the quality of the hardware.” The company can optimize experiences for its consoles while incentivizing customers to purchase its systems.

Fans who continue to support Microsoft’s gaming efforts may enjoy a wider selection of titles. The ROG Ally handhelds are already compatible with Spider-Man games. Reports suggest that the next Xbox console will also run on a modified version of Windows. As a result, alternative marketplaces, including Steam, will likely be an option.
