"Only on PS5" branding appears as PlayStation exclusive games could skip PC

Several reports emerged that Sony would stop porting some PlayStation exclusives to PCs. Fans have since been monitoring the gaming giant for any hint of a confirmation. While not a definitive announcement, new “Only on PS5” marketing may signal a shift away from cross-platform games.
The messaging appeared alongside updates on the FlexStrike wireless fight stick, Pulse Elevate speakers, and a monitor. Gamers on social media spotted the “Game available only on PS5” disclaimer during a video for the 27-inch display.
Has Sony addressed the rumors?
PC users had expected Ghost of Yōtei to transition to Steam. However, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier believes that the PlayStation exclusive may remain confined to consoles. Most recently, he revealed that PlayStation Studios lead, Herman Hulst, told employees of the change in strategy.
Multiplayer live-service PS5 games will likely continue as cross-platform releases. Instead, other solo-oriented projects like Saros and Marvel’s Wolverine would be at risk. Amid signs of slowing sales for PS5 PC ports, some console owners have also called for a return to unique software.
Only on PlayStation returns
The most similar slogan to the new “Only on PS5” text was the “Only on PlayStation” used until shortly after the PS5 debuted. In 2021, PlayStation Universe documented how it no longer graced the retail covers for Ghost of Tsushima. Fans observed the same pattern with Horizon Zero Dawn and other PlayStation exclusives. Eventually, all of the titles surfaced on Steam.
In the years since, Sony has been more cautious about limiting its audience. Ironically, the possible reversal comes as the company is welcoming a collection of PC accessories. The official blog emphasizes the gaming monitor's cross-platform compatibility. Yet, even though the displays are commonly connected to desktops, they were showcased using a game that could stay confined to consoles.
Sony may opt not to make any definitive statement on its exclusivity plans. Curious gamers will be looking for more subtle signs during the June 2nd State of Play. With Marvel’s Wolverine set to attend, viewers will pay particularly close attention to any disclaimers in a new trailer.
