Sony has announced Horizon Zero Dawn is getting a remaster. It will launch on October 31 as a $9.99 upgrade for people who already own the game. Otherwise, it costs $49.499

For some inexplicable reason, Sony has decided to remaster Horizon Zero Dawn for the PlayStation 5 and PC (instead of Bloodborne). Thankfully, those who already own the game on PC/PlayStation have to pay only $9.99 for the upgrade. Otherwise, it will be available via Steam/Epic Games Store/PlayStation Store for $49.99 on October 31.

Sony claims the Horizon Zero Dawn includes ' over 10 hours of re-recorded conversation, mocap and countless graphical improvements', effectively bringing it on par with its successor Horizon Forbidden West. Other notable improvements include new textures, animation and lighting. Additionally, it can take full advantage of the PlayStation 5 Pro's new hardware.

Horizon Zero Dawn remastered's PC port will be developed by Nixxes and support popular AI upscalers such as DLSS, FSR and XeSS. More information about its PC-specific features will be revealed later. On consoles, you'll be able to experience the game as a PlayStation 5 title, complete with DualSense haptics, 3D Audio and remappable controls.

Unfortunately, PC players will require a PlayStation account to play Horizon Zero Dawn remastered on the platform. That is to be expected as many recent Sony launches such as God of War Ragnarok and Ghost of Tsushima have mandated it.
