EmuDeck mini-PC releases cancelled after poor uptake
EmuDeck as a tool remains as popular as ever, even with the increasing demise of Nintendo emulators. For context, not only has Yuzu been wound up, but so has Ryujinx. Unfortunately, the popularity of EmuDeck has not extended to the company's first hardware project, which it announced at the end of August.
In summary, EmuDeck planned to sell two EmuDeck Machines called the EM1 and EM2, as well as an AMD Radeon RX 7600-powered docking station. According to the company's project page, the EM1 and EM2 were to be based on Intel N97 and Radeon 5 8600G processors, respectively. Both mini-PCs were slated to begin shipping 'on Christmas Eve 2024', too.
None of that will now come to pass, though. Initially, EmuDeck 'killed' the EM1 a few days after launch, which was replaced by a DIY kit. Sadly, both the EM2 and DIY kit proved unpopular as well. Supposedly, the EmuDeck Machine project was on track to fall short of its $69,680 campaign goal.
As a result, EmuDeck has now ended the crowdfunding campaign and will refund all backers. Seemingly, the EmuDeck Machine will not be its final hardware project, though. Apparently, EmuDeck is 'already working on something else'; no details about what this could be have been revealed yet, though.
